Hammer and Chisel Week 2 Recap

Matt : -1.8 pounds (Total: -5.6)

Erica: -0.8 pounds (Total: -2.0)

Week 2 is in the books! I lied to you last week. We decided to wait until the 30-day mark to share updated photos and measurements. Mostly because it’s a pain in the butt to do all of that on a Saturday morning before we get our workout in. Plus, I’m sure the photos will be much more impressive after 4 weeks. We both took unofficial photos and compared them to our befores and things are definitely changing! My belly is changing shape, which is REALLY hard for me to accomplish with my short torso.

I’ve been stepping on the scale every single day and I wish you guys could see my numbers. I’m holding out until the end to share them with you, but it is like a rollercoaster ride up in here! I KNOW that my eating is on point, and I KNOW I’m working my butt off during my workouts- so when that scale goes up, I KNOW it has nothing to do with me. The reason I’m tracking it daily is to show you that the scale is not your friend. I expect my weight to stay pretty close to the original number because this program is more about getting lean and developing muscle.

We finally repeated a workout this week (Chisel Balance) and we loved the intensity of each day. Wednesdays are set up as our rest days and it’s really hard for us to NOT do anything on that day. Both of us felt like our routine was thrown off, but we listened to Autumn and Sagi and let our bodies rest. In our giant Master’s Challenge group on Facebook, Autumn posted a video explaining the importance of the rest days. When you lift heavy and work hard, you are tearing down your muscle fibers. The magic happens when you let those muscles rest because they repair and build back up. If you never give them the opportunity to rest, you won’t see the progress that you hope to.

I touched on this last week but it’s worth mentioning again. Matt is LOVING this program. Sticking with a workout routine has never been his thing. He has been turning down going out to lunch with his co-workers because he is committed to the meal plan and it makes me SO happy to have him by my side in this. If your husband, brother, father, boyfriend, significant other lacks the motivation to workout, THIS might be the program for them.

If I could share only ONE tip with you, it would be to keep things SIMPLE with your meal plan. We keep things pretty much the same for breakfast, lunch, and snacks. The only thing I change is our dinners, which we only make 3 times a week. We drink Shakeology for dinner 3 times a week, and the 7th day is our cheat meal out at a restaurant. We do it this way because it’s something we can do long term. I’m not a huge fan of cooking (although I love to bake), so tons of dirty dishes and too much time spent in the kitchen makes me a little grumpy. If I tried to cook every night, I’d probably give up and order pizza. Shakeology is quick & easy and I know we are getting exactly what our bodies need.

Hammer and Chisel Week 2 Meal Plan

60 days until we head to Florida for our cruise! I WILL feel confident in a bathing suit. I WILL be proud of the work that I put in with Hammer and Chisel. We’ve got work to do! See you next week! Send me an email at erica.tehonica@mac.com if you'd like more information on this program.
